Job Title: Senior Paraplanner
Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 p.a., depending on experience
Location: London (Hybrid)

About the Role…

This is not simply a report-writing role.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Paraplanner who is Chartered, or on track to achieve Chartered status within the next 12 months, to play a key part in shaping financial planning outcomes for our clients, developing technical standards across the business and supporting the continued growth of Citygate Financial Planning.

You’ll work closely with our Director and advisers, acting as a trusted technical expert and sounding board. We’re looking for someone who is confident challenging assumptions, identifying planning opportunities and taking ownership of complex cases from initial analysis through to recommendation.

This role is designed for an experienced career paraplanner who wants to remain on the technical pathway rather than move into advice. You’ll have the opportunity to deepen your expertise, influence planning outcomes and play a leading role in developing technical excellence across the business.

At Citygate, we care deeply about the why: why clients are making decisions, why recommendations are appropriate and why financial planning can make a meaningful difference to people’s lives.

We’re looking for someone whose first instinct is to ask “why?” rather than simply “how?”

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing firm with an ambitious culture focused on continuous improvement, professional development and exceptional financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Research

  • Take ownership of complex client cases across investments, pensions, protection and wider financial planning matters.
  • Conduct technical research and analysis, identifying planning opportunities and developing suitable planning strategies.
  • Support advisers with technical queries and planning strategies.

Cashflow Modelling & Advice Preparation

  • Build and maintain comprehensive and accurate cashflow models using Voyant.
  • Analyse alternative planning strategies and model client outcomes.
  • Support annual reviews and ongoing planning work through robust technical analysis.

Suitability Reports & Quality Assurance

  • Produce high-quality suitability reports supporting financial planning recommendations.
  • Ensure all recommendations are technically robust, compliant and clearly articulated.
  • Review paraplanning outputs where appropriate to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Contribute to the development of report templates, technical standards and planning resources.

Leadership & Proposition Development

  • Provide coaching, mentoring and technical support to colleagues.
  • Share industry updates, best practice and regulatory developments.
  • Contribute to the continued development of our Centralised Investment Proposition (CIP) and wider advice proposition.
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, workflows and client outcomes.

About You…

Essential

  • Chartered Financial Planner, or on track to achieve Chartered status within the next 12 months.
  • Minimum 5 years’ paraplanning experience.
  • Excellent technical knowledge across pensions, investments, protection and wider financial planning.
  • Strong suitability report writing and cashflow modelling skills.
  • Comfortable challenging and influencing advisers where appropriate.
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Passionate about continuous learning and professional development.

Why Join Citygate?

We’re a close-knit team with an ambitious culture focused on continuous improvement, planning excellence and delivering exceptional client outcomes. We care deeply about doing the right thing for our clients and for the team around us.

If your ambition is to become one of the best career paraplanners in the industry, this role gives you the responsibility, support and platform to get there.

What We Offer

  • £55,000 – £65,000 p.a., depending on experience.
  • Benefits including income protection, death in service, private medical insurance, a health cash plan, Cycle2Work scheme and salary sacrifice car scheme.
  • Hybrid working, with the flexibility to work remotely for part of the week and a 4pm finish on Fridays.
  • Professional development support, including the cost of relevant training and qualifications.

If you’re passionate about great financial planning, enjoy solving complex client problems and want your technical expertise to have a genuine impact, we’d love to hear from you.
